Common questions
Is there any downtime?
There's usually some small bumps and redness at the injection points that settle within hours to a day, and your scalp might feel tender for a short while. Most people carry on as normal straight after, though we ask you to skip heavy exercise for 24 hours.
Does it hurt?
It's quite manageable — we put numbing cream on first, and the needles are very fine. Most people feel brief pressure or tiny stings rather than anything sharp, and it's over quickly.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people need a course of 2 to 4 sessions, spaced about 2 to 4 weeks apart. If you've got a wedding or big event coming up, it's worth starting at least 12 to 16 weeks beforehand so the growth has time to show.
How long do the results last?
You'll typically start noticing less shedding and healthier scalp condition within a few weeks, with visible new hair growth appearing around 2 to 3 months. From there it lasts 6 to 12 months, and maintenance sessions keep the results going.
Are there any side effects?

- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours — it thins the blood and bruising shows more
- Stop retinol on your scalp or hairline 3 days before
- Tell us about any heart conditions or blood thinners when you book
- Come with your hair dry and your scalp accessible — we'll need to see the thinning areas clearly
After your appointment
- Expect small bumps, redness and tiny pinpricks of blood at injection points — normal and settles within hours to a day
- No makeup on the scalp or hairline for 12 to 24 hours
- Skip the gym, saunas and anything that makes you sweat heavily for 24 hours
- Don't wash your hair until the next day — let the product settle
- Your scalp may feel tender or tight for a short while — this passes
- Use gentle shampoo and avoid scratching or rubbing the area for 48 hours
Do not book if
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have any cardiovascular condition including heart disease
- You have an active scalp infection, inflammation, or open wounds in the area
- You have a known allergy to fish or seafood-derived products
- You are under 18
- You have completely bald areas where follicles are already lost — this needs follicles to work on
