Common questions
Is there any downtime?
You'll have some redness and swelling straight after, with small bumps at the injection points that fade within a day. Swelling typically peaks around day two and can last two to seven days depending on which areas were treated. Most people carry on as normal and just cover any marks with makeup after the first day.
Does it hurt?
It's quite manageable — the filler contains numbing medicine, and we use numbing cream as well. Most people feel pressure and a slight pinching rather than anything sharp, and it sits around a 3 out of 10 for discomfort.
How many sessions will I need?
This is a single session treatment — no course needed. If you've got a wedding or big event coming up, book at least four weeks beforehand so everything has time to settle and look its best.
How long do the results last?
You'll see the result immediately, and it's at its best at about two to four weeks once any swelling has settled. From there it typically lasts 12 to 18 months, depending on your metabolism and which areas were treated.
Are there any side effects?
It's normal to have redness, swelling, tenderness and some bruising at the injection points, plus a little pinpoint bleeding where the needle went in. These settle on their own over a few days. With four syringes there are more entry points, so the chance of some bruising is higher than with smaller treatments.
Before your appointment
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours — it thins the blood and bruising shows more
- Skip blood thinners like aspirin or ibuprofen for 3 days if you can
- Stop retinol products 1 week before if under-eye work is planned
- Come with clean skin, no makeup
- Eat something beforehand — it helps with comfort and faintness
- Tell us about any cold sores or skin infections in the treatment area
After your treatment
- Expect swelling for 2 to 7 days — this is normal and settles on its own
- Small bumps at injection points fade within 24 hours — do not massage them
- No makeup over injection points for 12 to 24 hours
- Skip the gym, saunas and extreme heat for 24 hours
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours to reduce bruising
- Sleep on your back if you can for the first night
- Use arnica cream if bruising appears
