- Semi-Permanent Lips
✨ Transform dark, uneven lips into a neutral base that finally takes colour beautifully.
How it works:
- We implant warm orange and peach pigments into your lips to cancel out blue, purple or brown undertones, creating an even canvas that can then hold lighter, prettier shades.
Who it's for:
- Anyone with naturally dark, cool-toned or unevenly pigmented lips
- People who have tried lip colour before and it healed ashy or grey
- Those wanting defined, lighter-looking lips without daily makeup
The benefits:
- Dark undertones neutralised so your lips look naturally lighter
- Even, uniform colour instead of patchy or two-tone lips
- A base that finally accepts pink, peach or nude shades
- Defined lip border without the look of dark lipstick
- Results that last years with simple annual refreshes
What's included:
- Full colour analysis and custom pigment mixing for your exact undertone
- Topical numbing cream before and during for comfort
- Digital machine or manual tool application with single-use needles
- Barrier film protection for the skin around your lips
- Detailed aftercare kit and written instructions
What to expect:
- 2 to 3 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart for full correction
- Immediate result is darker and more orange than final outcome
- True colour reveals itself at 4 to 6 weeks after each session
- Annual colour boost keeps results fresh
💡 Dark lips need correction before they can take colour — this is the foundation that makes every future lip treatment possible.
Common questions
Is there any downtime?
You'll have 7 to 10 days of visible healing. The first 2 to 3 days your lips will be swollen and intensely coloured, then they get dry, tight and flaky as they peel. By day 7 to 10 the colour can look almost disappeared, but the true pigment comes back through at around 4 to 6 weeks. Most people manage
Does it hurt?
It's quite manageable — we use strong numbing cream before and throughout, so most people feel more vibration and pressure than actual pain. Lips are sensitive though, so you will feel something, and the swelling afterwards can feel tender for a day or two.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people need a course of 2 to 3 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart for full correction, then an annual colour boost to keep it fresh. If you have a wedding, holiday or big event coming up, it's worth starting at least 14 to 16 weeks beforehand so everything is fully healed and settled in time.
How long do the results last?
You'll see the immediate result straight away, but the true settled colour only reveals itself at 4 to 6 weeks once healing is complete. From there it typically lasts 12 to 24 months, though darker original lip tones may need more frequent maintenance and sun protection helps it last longer.
Are there any side effects?
Expect immediate swelling, redness and tenderness, then dry, cracked, flaky skin as your lips heal and peel. There's a risk of cold sores flaring up, which is why antivirals are important if you are prone to them. Colour can heal patchy or uneven, and darker skin types have a small risk of hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation. Infection and scarring are only risks if aftercare is not followed properly.
Before your appointment:
- Take antiviral medication for 3 days prior if you get cold sores — speak to your GP for prescription
- Stop using lip fillers 4 weeks before — let everything settle completely
- Gently exfoliate your lips daily for a week beforehand for smoother application
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours — it thins blood and increases bleeding
- Skip blood-thinning medications if safe to do so — check with your doctor first
- Come with clean, makeup-free lips and no active dryness or cracks
After your appointment:
- Expect swelling and intense colour for 2 to 3 days — this is normal
- Keep lips dry and do not pick at any flaking or peeling skin
- No kissing, spicy food, hot drinks or swimming for 7 to 10 days
- Apply aftercare balm with a clean cotton bud only — never your finger
- Avoid makeup on or around lips for 7 full days
- Colour will look very light or almost gone at week 2 — true pigment emerges by week 4 to 6
Do not book if:
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have active cold sores or a history of herpes simplex without antiviral cover
- You have diabetes, blood clotting disorders or take blood thinners
- You tend to form keloid scars
- You have eczema, psoriasis or any active skin condition on your lips
- You have had lip fillers within the past 4 weeks
- You have certain autoimmune conditions — check with us first
- You have known allergies to lidocaine or cosmetic pigments
How it compares
✅ Compared with Lip Blush
